Tradescantia zebrina violet in a 10.5cm pot

A tender succulent normally grown as a hanging plant, it has beautifully marked silver and purple leaves with purple undersides. Perhaps it is the contrasting colouring that makes it so attractive as a hanging plant, offering a different colourway from each angle.
The pointed leaves are closely clothed on the stems giving a dense, compact and colourful appearance.
Tradescantia have traditionally been favourite bathroom plants where they enjoy the humidity.
To get the best from your Tradescantia
- keep it in a room with warm, even temperatures
- it enjoys bright, indirect light
- feed in summer with a liquid feed when it is actively growing
- you can encourage its bushiness by pinching out the growing tips
- water sparingly as required. Try not to let the compost dry out and ensure the roots don't sit in water. Provide additional humidity if situated in a room where the air is dry
